Breaking Free: How Forgiveness and A Course In Miracles Can Set You Free

April 12, 2012

Book review

Coburn reveals that unconditional love and forgiveness are the keys to lasting happiness, and coaches readers through the steps in the healing process.

by Lorri Coburn, MSW

Coburn has written a user-friendly guide to A Course in Miracles, illustrating its principles with fascinating stories from her psychotherapy practice. It is the quintessential introduction that bridges the gap between traditional religious beliefs and the Course. The book uncovers how most people are unaware of the degree to which they harbor anger, suffering and pain, as well as the toll it takes on their mental health. Challenging traditional Judeo-Christian definitions, Coburn reveals that unconditional love and forgiveness are the keys to lasting happiness, and coaches readers through the steps in the healing process.

The book also depicts her life, which looks much different today than it did eight years ago, when her world was ruled by depression, despair and a disjointed romantic relationship. Once she began to understand true forgiveness and apply the concept to her own life, her life became happier and more fulfilling.

A great book for someone who wants to forgive someone, but cannot.
