More and more, we are seeing a drastic increase in symptoms and disease; yet for many people, getting a proper diagnosis can be very difficult. Going the conventional medical route leaves many patients with prescriptions to suppress symptoms or referrals to other doctors, when diagnoses are elusive. However, trying to silence your symptoms will only lead to more severe ones.

In order to treat the root cause of your symptoms, you need to know what is causing them. A variety of reasons exists as to why you could be experiencing chronic headaches or persistent bad breath, and all the pain relievers or mouthwashes in the world will only suppress the problem temporarily. This reasoning particularly holds true for more serious conditions, such as subclinical infections.

Conventional medicine tends to think inside the box. If you exhibit symptom “A,” then you get tested and treated for diagnosis “A.” This type of thinking leaves many patients frustrated.

Alternative medicine, on the other hand, focuses on the person, not the symptom. One modality that naturopaths trust and depend on to help diagnose their patients is biofeedback, an instrument-based form of testing that gives your body an opportunity to reveal answers.

Electrodermal screening (EDS), first developed more than 60 years ago, is widely used all over the world. This non-invasive, inexpensive test can help screen for pathogens and toxins that could be causing your symptoms. Many practitioners utilize EDS to help recognize organ dysfunction, toxin overload, hormonal imbalances and nutritional deficiencies.

EDS works by creating a painless circuit within your body. You hold a rod in one hand, and the physician closes the circuit by touching a stylus to a point on your other hand. The EDS machine measures the electrical resistance of different substances that are placed on a testing platform. The results are instant and allow the physician to further confirm a diagnosis, then present suitable treatment options.

The possibilities of EDS are endless. The screening also can be used to look at your compatibility with specific medications/supplements. This can help prevent wasting time and money on something that is not going to work for you or, worse, something that could potentially harm you. This form of testing requires no biological matter, so blood draws or other invasive tests are not needed.

EDS can also help with day-to-day illnesses. If you are fighting a nasty cold or food poisoning, EDS can hone in on the particular ailment, and the physician can then choose the needed homeopathic remedy and expedite recuperation.

If you are struggling to obtain answers about how to treat a chronic illness, consider EDS. This method of testing can help patients battling cancer to those with headaches. Countless options are available for testing, and a skilled physician can have you on the road to a quick recovery.
