Reflexology and hormonal balance

What a gift just to sit for an hour with your feet up, receiving soothing, professional and individualized attention.

by Carol Gutierrez —

Reflexology is an ancient art and science that can positively and naturally bring balance to the many physiological changes that accompany the hormonal changes that occur as women age. Hot flashes, moodiness, water retention, palpitations and mind fogginess are frequent symptoms surrounding menopause. These symptoms are due to the flux of hormone and water-balance changes in the body.

A reflexologist will inquire about the goal of the session and obtain a brief medical history before starting to work on the hologram of the body. Most women deeply enjoy the nurturing feeling that comes when someone gives full attention to their aching feet. What a gift just to sit for an hour with your feet up, receiving soothing, professional and individualized attention.

The body’s template of reflexes on the feet, hands and ears directly affects the function of the physical organs. The symptoms presented by a perimenopausal woman can be brought into harmony by working the organ reflex areas directly connected with the imbalances.

Essential oils, flower essences or gemstones may be added to a session to enhance the intention and benefits of the reflexology. A cool, refreshing peppermint essential oil diluted in a carrier oil is a great mood-lifter and can bring relief from hot flashes.

Reflexology is a perfect complement to traditional medical interventions. Finding a therapeutic tool to facilitate balance in a safe, natural way is a step in the right direction. Reflexology is a holistic approach to the mind, body and “sole.”
